The Anti Viruses

After designing the world for the virus the next step would be to design our protagonist, the anti virus who is also the mascot for the company , "BRIKE".

As Brike is a software that has a search and destroy tactic and also has the ability to attack where the source of the virus is, A few concepts that came to mind were detectives, science fiction,robots and plug suits.

Out of the 3 types drawn, the robot and cyborg types would have the most problems moving and animating due to the location of their joints being unclear. Hence the only choice left suitable for animation was the detective type. The detective type looked unfriendly and certainly not like a protagonist so the head was redesigned into the following:

Detective type 1 was somewhat based off the terminator but he looked too scary to be a hero. The 2 friendlier choices were type 2 and type 3 . It would have looked odd for a human to suddenly appear in a computer and would make much more sense to have a robot instead . Therefore Detective type 2 was chosen to try out different colour schemes

After much consideration I felt that Detective type 2 did not fit any of the colour schemes nor did it fit the feel of a hero defeating the viruses hence the detective type was scrapped.

With the previous detective type scrapped I took the time to look through my reference material again. Some shows recommended to me to take references off were Tron, Digimon , Summer Wars.

Using these as references I came up with 3 more friendlier characters  

The viruses already looked like insane spawns from hell so to match the viruses a creature vs creature would be appropriate. The hero types were not chosen as even though they looked Sci-Fi, I did not understand how I would animate their fight scene as compared to a creature already built to fight monsters.

The creature was then redesigned to make it more animate-able . Parts of the creature type were slimmed down and streamlined even more to make it easier for him to run.

To fully understand how his movements would work, his main body was drawn out without any clothing to understand how he's run, walk and fight.
